Answer 1 :
well I would guess you will need Gas: $80 +/- Hotel: you can usually find a fairly nice hotel from $90-140 a night (maybe less with Internet specials) Food: meals can run about $10 each meal on up entertainment: I would try to budget $30 +/- a day if you can (you can easily spend more) Alcohol: $endless It really depends on how you want to travel but hopefully this helps. Have fun.
Answer 2 :
We used about $100 in gas (to drive a little less than you did); you might want to make it $120-150 just to be safe (with rising gas prices). I'm not sure how much hotels run in New Orleans, but I'm pretty sure they're expensive. Try this website to see what works best for you: http://travel.yahoo.com/p-hotel-191501939-new_orleans_hotels-i?fromiy=1 Food in the French Quarter is also pretty expensive. It's also usually rainy and HOT (so you'll want LOTS to drink). And of course, you'll want to take tours and stuff. All together, I'd save at LEAST a couple thousand, just to make sure everything is covered. Take a credit card also, just in case something happens (flat tire, etc.). Have fun, be safe (STICK TOGETHER!!) and enjoy! I love New Orleans; the city itself is disgusting, but the culture is so amazing!
Answer 3 :
the same as if you were going to any tourist area in Fla. it all depends if you stay at the Hyatt or the holiday inn. eat burgers or steaks? buy t shirts or blue dawg prints? is fun to you drinking $10 drinks on the patio or eating $4 plates of sugar covered donuts? you can spend a little or a lot. fun is hard to put a $ on. riding the street car is fun to me but some ppl would rather sit in the sun on a park bench so it's all a matter of choice. www . care2 . com if someone says to you "I bet you a dollar I can tell you where you got your shoes at" tell them yeah the same place you got yours "on your feet"

Answer 1 :
We are taking a trip to New Orleans for August 28th-August 30th, its my birthday present. I have never been and I have wanted to go so badly. How neat! Anyways, we are definately eating at NOLA its one of Emeril's restaurants and I want to eat at Bubba Gump's Shrimp House. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=family+restaurants+in+new+orleans&aq=1&oq=family+restaurants+in+new&aqi=g3
Answer 2 :
It isn't a restaurant but you really need to go to Cafe Du Monde You need to try the beignets!!!
Answer 3 :
Well like the others said Cafe Du Monde and NOLA are great places to go. It really depends on how much you want to spend. Because the restaurants that you hear about in the news and such are normally on the expensive side. But Camellia Grill is a great place to go. Hears their website: http://www.camelliagrill.net/ Emeril's restaurants are always great so any of those would be great to eat at. Broussard's is another great place. A nice dress-up restaurant. Sort of on the expensive side but great food. www.broussards.com On what you said about the crime thing. Its not bad in the tourist heavy areas. The crime that goes on is only between criminals most of the time. Also the crime isn't in the french quarter its more in the bad parts of town. But still be cautious as if you were in your own town. Don't go down dark alleys and things tlike that. Take the obvious precautions but I wouldn't be to scared if I were you. **OH!!!! And another place to take your kids that just recently opened is the Audobon Insecterium!! It's absolutely awesome! Its pretty new and it's just really cool. Your kids should have fun going to that!!!** HOPE IT HELPS!!!!

Answer 1 :
There are plenty of homeless in Jackson Square (in the French Quarter). How about giving out Care Packages?
Answer 2 :
Check out VolunteerMatch. Even if there isn't an opportunity posted for the specific days you will be there, contact organizations listed on VolunteerMatch and let them know what your availability is and what skills you want to donate (don't just write and say, "I want to help!"). Arts organizations -- museums, theaters, music groups, etc. -- should be very easy to find in the New Orleans area using Google. Contact them and, again, let them know what your availability is and what skills you want to donate (don't just write and say, "I want to help!").
Answer 3 :
The New Orleans Museum of Art is always looking for volunteers: http://www.noma.org/volunteer.html However, you will probably only be here for a few days. Please just enjoy yourself and have a good time in our city!

About School Trip To New Orleans

School Trip To New Orleans?
My friends and I are a group of motivated high schoolers, who are interested in helping the relief effort in New Orleans. Obviously, we would need a teacher to chaperon and go with us, but how would we get the actual trip set up? Which organizations work with high schools?

Answer 1 :
Talk with your school counsler she/he would know everything about it and if she doesn't then ask your chruch if they don't know then you can red cross and ask them what kind of programs they for kids like you. Good luck
Answer 2 :
See if you can link up with another school in New Orleans to see how people your age are dealing with it and how you can help them. I know City Park is always taking volunteers for cleanup, but maybe a partner school can guide you somewhere else.

About I am taking a trip to New Orleans

I am taking a trip to New Orleans?
I am taking a trip to New Orleans, just me and my dog Lucy. I would like to stay in the nicest, safest area. Would that be the French Quarter?

Answer 1 :
I went there in August and stayed at The Royal Sonesta on Bourbon Street in the French Quarter I felt very safe
Answer 2 :
I went to Frommer's travel guide online, and found a great list of hotels, along with information about the best areas to stay. That link is included below. I also am sending a link to the Lonely Plant travel guide. This is also a section about places to stay in New Orleans. Hope this helps!
Answer 3 :
New Orleans is safe for visitors, and for residents. Just use the same basic common sense needed in every city in the world and you will be fine. The French Quarter is the best place to stay for tourists. However, not all hotels welcome pets. Check www.frenchquarterhotels.com for some non-chain properties. Hope you have a great time!
Answer 4 :
You will be safe. Most people that are shot and killed are in drug trade.ill tell you 95% of the crime is over drugs. The French Quarter is nice http://www.starwoodhotels.com/whotels/property/overview/index.html?propertyID=2030 Above is a nice hotel
Answer 5 :
You might consider a bed and breakfast... there are several wonderful ones in the area.
