About Whats Some Good Music For A Trip To New Orleans

Whats Some Good Music For A Trip To New Orleans?
I'm going on a mission trip to New Orleans. I know its the birthplace of Jazz. What are some good songs to listen to on the plane to get me into the New Orleans Mood? Thanks :)

Answer 1 :
Anything that is in the mainstream genre of jazz will help you out. Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Charlie Parker, and Duke Ellington are good places to start. More good artists include Gerry Mulligan, Wes Montgomery, and even Aaron Goldberg.
Answer 2 :
Fats Domino--Walkin' to New Orleans This one always gets me pumped up when traveling to N.O. If you're looking for some local stuff that's not jazz but pretty good, try the pop-rock/alternative band Better Than Ezra. Try these two sentimental New Orleans-based songs of theirs: King of New Orleans and WWOZ (both from the Friction Baby album). Good luck, hope your trip to the Crescent City is a great one!
